‘Variety, pleasant colleagues and no stress’

Pedro van den Berk saw vans arrive at his rear neighbour’s company from AB Werkt and looked up what kind of employment agency that was. He liked what he heard and read about and decided to join forces with us. ‘I want to work with people who are really keen to move forward, people who are motivated and reliable. But also with people who enjoy proper remuneration and housing, because they are comfortable and highly motivated. AB Werkt does that very well.’ Permanent job

Van den Berk B.V. is a small company employing ten people. For the past four years, this has included international employees from AB Werkt. It started four years ago with seasonal work at the nursery: uprooting trees and preparing orders. At present, one Romanian seasonal worker from AB Werkt is employed in Den Dungen. Another Romanian employee who started through AB Werkt was working year-round at the tree nursery. This year, Pedro hired Christian Cosuleanu on a permanent basis. ‘He told me he wanted to stay and had found housing. He is versatile and good at all kinds of jobs. Pruning, planting, maintenance, delivering trees and plants to customers. His career with us has been a success story. I was happy to offer him a job.’

Treating everyone the same

Pedro does have an idea why people like working for him. ‘It’s a small company with a great team. I treat everyone the same, showing everyone the same appreciation. People feel part of the team, regardless of whether they have a permanent contract. The men who have been on permanent contracts here for years speak highly of AB Werkt’s temporary workers. Hard workers who know the ropes from day one.’

‘My work almost feels like a hobby’

Christian confirms Pedro’s words. He came into contact with AB Werkt in Bucharest and decided to go to the Netherlands. ‘I think the Netherlands is a beautiful, clean and green country. I really like my work at Boomkwekerij van den Berk. It almost feels like a hobby. I have great colleagues and we have fun at work. There is not too much pressure on me, I have no stress here. There’s not one specific task I like the most. It’s the variety that makes it so much fun. There’s something new every day. So it’s never boring. And Pedro is a good employer to work for.’

Satisfied entrepreneur

For now, Pedro has no special plans for his company other than to continue working pleasantly in the same way. ‘We will continue to optimise and innovate, but I have no plans for expansion or acquisition or things like that. I am happy with my business as it is. With a permanent team of great employees, assisted in high season by one or more good temporary workers. And that in a beautiful place surrounded by greenery.’
